What this is

Music Arcademy makes music practice feel like an arcade. We build small, focused training games — starting with Chord Rush, a browser game that drills piano chord recognition, speed and accuracy, with MIDI keyboard support.

The chord library

Our free piano chord library covers 23 chord families in all 12 keys — notes, formulas, keyboard diagrams, fingerings, and what each chord is actually for. Every page is generated from the same chord definitions the game itself plays, so the reference and the practice can never disagree.

How we make the chord content — and why you can trust it

Every chord on this site is defined once, in the same engine that powers Chord Rush. The notes, intervals, keyboard voicings and fingerings you read are the exact ones the game asks you to play — they are computed from music-theory first principles (a root, a formula of intervals, and a real playable voicing on the keyboard), not copied from other sites or paraphrased by a language model.

On top of that computed foundation, a musician writes the explanatory layer for each of the 23 chord families — how the chord sounds, its job in a progression, where you'll hear it, and the mistake beginners make. Note spellings are chosen by scale degree so enharmonics read correctly (E♭ vs D♯), and a build-time validator checks every page for a single accurate voicing, correct note names and working links before it ships. If the theory and the game ever disagreed, the build would fail — so they can't.

You can hear it for yourself: every chord page has a Hear it button that plays the chord live from that same voicing data, and our progression guides show the theory in real musical context.

How the game and the library fit together

The library tells you what a chord is; the game makes your hands know it. Look a chord up, then play Chord Rush and meet the same chord at speed — recognition you can't get from reading alone.
